3 Reasons We Love Adventure Play Equipment | Trim Trails

3 reasons to love adventure play equipment

Adventure play equipment is some of the most popular we design and install for schools, public playgrounds and commercial parks. It offers children hours of fun and can be a real draw to families when they’re choosing where to go with their children.

Take a look at our top three reasons why we love adventure play equipment.

1. Encourages physical activity

Using these fun pieces of adventure playground equipment is great exercise. Plus, it’s so much fun, children don’t realise they’re working their bodies while they’re challenging their friends to cross the tyre traverse without touching the floor!

Each piece of equipment will challenge a child in a new way too, so no movement is repetitive or strained. One will work their core muscles to keep them balanced while the next asks them to use their strength and problem solving abilities to move across the climbing wall. This all boosts a child’s strength and coordination, setting them up well for later life.

Plus, it’s well documented that physical activity is brilliant for positive mental health. The more active children are, and the less time they spend looking at screens, the better they’ll feel both in body and mind.

2. It offers something for everyone

Adventure play equipment is fun for children (and adults!) of all ages. We include a great selection of equipment in a trim trail from simple stepping stones and balance beams, to tricky wobble logs and rope walks. Children can play by themselves, with each other, or with the help of a parent or carer to complete the course.

It’s multigenerational playground equipment that youngsters can grow up with. Even teens who pretend they hate everything can’t resist testing their skills on the log traverse! It offers young people a fun, safe space to socialise, exercise, and enjoy being in the outdoors.

3. Increases resilience

A child is very unlikely to perfectly complete a trim trail first time – or even the fifth or sixth! They have to build up to it and master each piece of equipment to be able to say they’ve completed it all. This helps them build resilience, if they want to succeed, they’ll have to try and try again.

We want to set children up for success. Showing them it’s okay to fail sometimes but encouraging them to get up and try again is a must. Using adventure equipment in a safe environment also helps children learn about appropriate risk management for themselves.

For example, rushing along a balance beam too quickly could cause them to slip. So, they’ll have assess the situation for themselves and work out how best to proceed.
