Yorkshire Farming Museum

A playground with bespoke playhouse reflecting the museum's heritage

The Challenge

The Yorkshire Farming Museum offers a wide range of activities for school days out as well as being open to the public daily. Peter Draper was in charge of updating the play area and he got in touch with us. The museum needed to attract more visitors and he knew a play area would enhance their offering. Peter had already applied for a grant to help fund the project and wanted to swap ideas.

Peter contacted us having recently seen the bespoke tractor we designed for Nether Silton Parish Council. Andy, our designer went to meet Peter to discuss his play area ideas. It was clear he wanted to incorporate the heritage of the museum into the farm playground design.

The Playground

We pitched an innovative design to the museum. Our farm playground design that would meet the needs of a wide range of ages and abilities. This included a bespoke multiplay tower system, basket swing, flat swings, and springy animals. The main attraction for this play area is without a doubt the bespoke mock Tudor house. The role play house reflects the beautiful architecture of the area’s medieval heritage.
