The Challenge

New Lodge Housing Development is based at a vibrant community for the over 55s in New Earswick, York.

We were asked to create a brilliant housing development playground for visitors to the site. New Lodge is an elderly care facility for the over 55s. The architects wanted to incorporate a fun space for families. They wanted a space for children, parents and grandparents to spend valuable outdoor time together.

New Lodge is located just behind the beautiful and historic New Earswick Folk Hall. It’s set in landscaped grounds and our playground design needed to offer lots of fun without causing too much disruption to the local area. Our designers were more than up for this challenge!

Architects for Wates Construction asked us to manufacture this housing development playground. After a successful pitch, they entrusted us with the project management of this play area. It needed to be a clean, exciting natural play space, full of fun.

Our design included a wide range of equipment to challenge and entertain children of all ages. We installed pieces of adventure trail and climbing equipment. There are also several bespoke elements just for New Lodge. Our team made sure to use largely natural materials when building the equipment. We selected a, earthy safety surfacing option to blend in with surroundings.
