Are sedentary lifestyles leading to obesity in children?
Our sedentary lifestyles may lead to obesity in children. We’re always plugged in to computers, messaging people on our phones, watch TV and playing video games. Children equate screen time with fun time and it’s contributing to a decline in their physical health. While diet, genetic predisposition etc. are also factors in childhood obestity, we want to help tackle the lack of movement in our youngsters!
Let’s create a nation that finds a balance between electronic devices and creative outdoor play. By creating positive play spaces, we enable children to be socially interactive as well as healthy. Once they get outdoors and engage in active play, they’ll have just as much fun, if not more, thank they would playing on a video game or electronic toy.
They’ll love testing their abilities on climbing equipment, challenging their friends on adventure trim trails, and whizzing down slides. Outdoor play offers lots of creative challenges and gets children moving without them even noticing it’s exercise. Take a look at our tips for a playground workout and head to your nearest park!
